The Korowai photographic publication documents the disappearing way of life of the indigenous people of the Indonesian part of Papua, as our very ancient ancestors probably lived. The photographs are accompanied by text in Slovak and English. The book's ambition is, among other things, to leave a message for future generations that a simple, uncomplicated way of life in harmony with nature offers more than it might seem at first glance.

In this book, I want to use photographs to show you what PAPUA was and is, its uniqueness and diversity. The book is divided into four sections, four visits: the Indonesian western part of PAPUA and the eastern part, Papua New Guinea. From Indonesian PAPUA, it features a collection of photographs of the Dani tribe, inhabiting the Baliem Valley in the interior, and the Korowai, living instead in the lowland rainforests of the southeastern part. Members of both of these ethnic groups are among the most remarkable in PAPUA. Papua New Guinea itself is presented through a collection of photographs from the middle reaches of the Sepik River, inhabited by the Latmul tribe, which is composed of various clans. The highlands, the region between Mount Hagen and Goroka, are represented by perhaps the best-known tribes: the Asaro, Skeleton, Nauro, and Huli.
